Current Issues:
-
Our crossing guards are supposed to be working until 4pm every regular school day per MPD website. The most recent accident occurred on 9/3/25 at 3:50pm and no crossing guard was present.
-
The crossing light button is dead - no lights turn on when button is pushed. This should be a simple fix but has yet to be addressed.
-
When the township decided to change the street traffic on Tuscan and move the crosswalks, they were supposed to create "bump outs" at the corners of the street where the crosswalks are which was supposed to be a traffic calming measure. This was never done.
-
The sightlines on Boyden/Tuscan are really challenging you can barely see around the parked cars.
-
And last but not least, when we have had police officers stationed as crossing guards at the Tuscan and Boyden corner (when crossing guards are absent), we notice a HUGE significance in safer traffic. So we know police presence is effective. The station is around the corner from the school. Given the police presence at every other school there is no reason why Seth Boyden should not be given the same.
-
We need an updated traffic study during arrival and dismissal.
-
We need a police presence DAILY at arrival and dismissal.
